Hello Everyone,

So as many of you know Meghan and I hosted a Texas Hold Em’ Poker fundraiser this weekend and we had a really great turn out. First and foremost I’d like to say thank you to each and everyone who participated and donated on Saturday night. Because of all of your generosity Meghan and I we’re able to take a big step forward towards reaching our goals of raising 3,300 each. We have a long road ahead of us still and it’s going to be a lot of hard work (both with the fund raising and training!) but we know that we can make it and it’s truly for a wonderful cause. \"All in!\"

Thank you for coming! In particular I’d like to thank Bill and Jen for the use of their beautiful house, Nick and Abby for organizing the games, Martin for making all that amazing food and everyone who attended for all your generosity! TO ALL ,THANK YOU!

So, no I’m definitely not going to run a marathon. In fact I won’t even walk 1 mile, let alone run 26.6!! It’s just not my style, BUT I will support Phia in any way I can. I’m very proud of her and her efforts! She’s a super star and I love her! Thank you to EVERYONE who has been involved and shown support, whether that’s been through a donation or your kind words. That really means a lot to her and I thank you for it. Team Phi Bear – Go Phia!

Go Phia Go!

Hello Everybody!

Training is getting intense, while the weather’s creeping up too! Luckily, most of our training is done by the coast, and we run at 7am, so the heat isn’t quite so bad. Nothing like running in the AM along some of California’s finest beaches.

I have decided instead of giving you EVERY little detail about my running faux pas, blisters, and back aches, I thought I’d highlight the events of the month would be a liiittle more intersting and less nauseating. ha!

- I ran the Aflac Iron Girl 10k about 2 weeks ago! It was great, but man was it HOT!! Also, my friend Meghan ran it with me, while our men sat on the sidelines cheering us on, in between their trips to the petting zoo (Held on the same grounds as the San Diego County Fair). The race started at the Del Mar race track at 7:30am. We took off, ran around the race track and out to Hwy 1. It was about 6.2 miles, 80 Degrees (no shade), and I did it in 1:10:48. We were awarded with medals, treats, and breakfast! Then, we followed our race with another round of petting animals at the petting zoo, and a healthy breakfast at Denny’s!

\"We did it!\"

Last week was our longest run yet. My group was scheduled to run 9 miles, but a few girls wanted to press 10, so I gave in and did it! 10 MILES!! Now, after running (with some walking) a distance like that, you start to realize what you’re really getting into! It felt like 10 miles physically and mentally. A distance like that shows how intense running really is. Plus, you learn the true importance of diet, fuels, gear, and fluids. It’s amazing how your body responds. Afterwards our group had a picnic, but I had to jet to do some weekend bonding with my nephews, and adventure to the San Diego Zoo. …what’s with me and zoo’s?

That concludes my monthly update, but  ** Stay Posted for more Info, including my AFC Half Marathon in August!!**

Hello everyone!

Thank you all for your continued support with my training! And thank you to everyone who has thus far donated to Team in Training, everyone’s support means a lot! Sometimes when I have to get up in the morning to run I think “this is crazy!” but then I see all the support I’ve gotten and I know that I’m doing a good thing! So thank you! This past weekend I ran in the Encinitas 5K, the weather was beautiful and it was a good crowd. A 5k is a little over 3 miles and I ran it in a little over 30 minutes, so it was a good time for me. Things are only getting started, as time goes on I’ll be in a 10K, a half marathon and then dun-dun-dunnnn the FULL marathon in San Fran! Yikes! But I can’t wait I’m excited!!

The Encinitas sigh over PCH

And they\'re off!

Is that determination or just pain??

Thanks for your support! Each year millions of people will be affected in some way by Cancer. While we’ve yet to find the cure, it’s comforting to know that there are people out there who’ve dedicated their lives to eradicating Cancer. I’ve learned through personal experience that this disease affects not only the patient, but all who are a part of their life. I’ve felt the fear, anxiety and helplessness at the thought of losing a loved one, and fortunately been lucky enough to bare witness to the absolute joy and love that comes with a patient’s recovery.

Recently I’ve decided that I’d like to be a small part of the cure by taking on a large challenge. In October I’ll be running my very first Marathon, the Nike Women’s Marathon, who’s proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I’ll admit the concept of running a Marathon is a little daunting but I feel like I’m up to the task and am very excited to be a part of something that could potentially benefit so many.

I won’t ask you to run the 26 miles with me, but I would like all who read this to consider making a donation of any size to help me reach my goal of $3,300. It’s a large sum, but it’s also a wonderful cause that we can all be proud of supporting. I’ve included a link below that will direct you to my donations page, any amount is helpful and greatly appreciated! Thanks to everyone for your support!
