Finally, sweet redemption. I’m not just talking about from last years loss to the Celtics, though that one sucked pretty hard. I’m talking going back to our loss against the Pistons, when the team pretty much imploded and we (Laker nation) had to start over. You’ll notice that I have not posted not a single blurb about the Lakers on this site. That’s because I’m terribly superstitious. I pick what Jersey I’m going to wear on game day very carefully, I pull out my Laker’s shoes (the one’s with Tupac on them) if I feel we need an extra boost, I also did not wash anything Laker related this whole post season. Sorry for the smell.
Blogging was out of the question.
I didn’t want to jinx anything, not after our march on the finals last year and subsequent horrible loss. But that’s over now and sweet sweet redemption is upon us. Tonight is about reveling in the glory of the win. It’s Sweet and I’ve missed it. For some franchises getting to the finals is an accomplishment in itself, but as Kobe said last year, getting second just means your the first loser. It’s all or nothing and this year we got it all. 09 is the best year I’ve ever had, beautiful wife, baby on the way, new house, and the Lakers are the NBA champions. Hallelujah.
By the way I’ve been a Laker fan since the mid eighties when my late Uncle Michael introduced me to “Showtime”, when the Forum was still Fabulous and the only Magic I knew wore purple and gold. I hope my Uncle is looking down smiling right now enjoying this win as much as I am.
